By day, I lead instructional strategy for a Learning & Development team at a software company (if you’re interested in my sordid work history – take a look at my LinkedIn profile). I mentor the team, spend way too much time creating Visio diagrams, and design and develop training programs that help people learn to use our products. Which essentially means I get to write every day and ask questions and build programs that ultimately help people do good in the world. For the past 10+ years I’ve worked for Nuance Communications, a speech recognition and natural language understanding company… we make technology that understands not only what humans say but what we mean when we say it. The technology digs into the context of our words and language, interprets what we’ve said, and applies artificial intelligence to add value. Our products help doctors provide better care, professionals do their jobs better and more efficiently, and businesses give better service to their customers. It’s mind-blowingly cool stuff, and it’s at this point where I think it would have been fun to be an engineer or a speech scientist. Or Anthropologist or photojournalist (click here to go back to my travel blog or here to see my stories on Medium).
My team creates amazing content. Often, what’s needed is needed, um… tomorrow. So I created this little “project picker” to set expectations.
I made this interactive resume a while ago now, but it was a fun little project.
A few years back, I did a little InstaGus project. Yep, just a crazy dog lady who made a bio for her dog!
Here are some samples of work I’ve done, that I can share on here anyway:
